In severe cases of Stock­holm Syn­drome in rela­tion­ships, the vic­tim may have dif­fi­culty leav­ing the abuser and may actu­ally feel the abu­sive sit­u­a­tion is their fault. In law enforce­ment sit­u­a­tions, the vic­tim may actu­ally feel the arrest of their part­ner for phys­i­cal abuse or bat­ter­ing is their fault.

It’s impor­tant to under­stand the com­po­nents of Stock­holm Syn­drome as they relate to abu­sive and con­trol­ling rela­tion­ships. Once the syn­drome is under­stood, it’s eas­ier to under­stand why vic­tims sup­port, love, and even defend their abusers and controllers.

If you look at the Right of Exile and the Right of Self-Determination (self-government) over the past cen­turies; you will see that to accom­plish such a feat and gain FREEDOM requires an atti­tude that I define as: “This is what MUST be done; no mat­ter what”.  It’s IMPERATIVE.

…why do we fol­low blindly what we’ve been taught about gov­ern­ment and soci­ety? Because we have never con­sid­ered the alter­na­tive. We have never started our thought process from the stand­point of self under­stand­ing … author­ity becomes the the voice of our conscience.
